1 YORKS The Yorkshire Regiment in the Falkland Islands.
Local islander Deirdre Barnes on East Falkland.
Sheep farmer Dierdre Barnes lived on West Falkland during the Argentine invasion of the islands in 1982.
She says she never saw any Argentine soldiers during the conflict although her children who were at school on the East Island were trapped and unable to get home.
She now lives a quiet life on the East Island thankful for the continued presence of the British Army.
